City of Abilene apologizes for error in Movies in the Park press release

ABILENE, Texas – A few dozen people showed up to Cobb Park for the city of Abilene’s Movies in the Park event, but close to 100 showed up at another park thinking the event was held there based on information given in a city news release.

The Parks and Recreation Department did post an image earlier Friday with the correct information, saying the event was being held at Cobb Park. But a media release sent by city spokesperson Alaisha Guerra states that the event was being held at the Rose Park Amphitheater.

We and other news outlets reported the information sent in the media release. Many at Rose Park told KTXS that they weren’t happy about the confusion.

We reached out to Abilene City Manager Robert Hanna for a statement to Abilene residents. He said, “It’s unfortunate that the information was wrong, and we will do better. We apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused some of you.”
