RNC Press Release On Christ’s Birth Offends Top Political Aide

By on Dec 31, 2016 in Press Release |

The Christmas season continued to offend people this 2016, especially after the Republican Party Chairman, Reince Priebus, honored Christ in a press release. Read here: GOP Christmas Press Release. Priebus wrote a three paragraph statement on the holiday, that sparked outrage from critics. “Over two millennia ago, a new hope was born into the world, a Savior who would offer the promise of salvation to all mankind. Just as the three wise men did on that night, this Christmas heralds a time to celebrate the good news of a new King.” The message then started off a heated debate on social media over whether the reference to a “new King” was about President-elec.t Donald Trump. John Weaver, a top aide to Ohio Gov. John Kasich, was among those who tweeted their disgust with the biblical statement. RNC spokesman and President-elect Trump’s future Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, defended the statement, by telling CNN that the reference had nothing to do with the future president and that “Christ is the King in the Christian faith.” Spicer also added that it was “sad and disappointing that you are politicizing such a holy day.”...

Fitbit Wasn’t a Winner in Amazon’s Holiday Press Release, Notes CFRA

By on Dec 30, 2016 in Press Release |

By Tiernan Ray Shares of wearables pioneer Fitbit (FIT) are up 60 cents, over 8%, at $7.90, perhaps helped by the fact, pointed out in various venues this morning, that its smartphone app is topping the charts of smartphone software for Apple’s (AAPL) iPhone, which would seem to imply people got a Fitbit device for Christmas and/or Chanukah. But CFRA Research analyst Scott Kessler today reiterates a Hold rating on the name, and is unswayed in his skepticism by reports that Fitbit’s mobile application is popular. His concern is that he doesn’t see Fitbit listed in the press release this morning from Amazon.com (AMZN) that discussed in vague terms this holiday season’s top gifts: Shares are up some 7% today, as FIT’s mobile apps remain popular in Apple’s App Store (#2 for iPhone) and via Google Play (#8), after what we think were considerable holiday gift purchases and related installs. Downloads seem to have remained strong in multiple countries around the world. We note the app was a leader in the Health Fitness category across a number countries before Christmas. Also, FIT was not mentioned in Amazon’s press release highlighting the best-selling wearable technology products on Amazon.com, specifying a Garmin fitness band and a Garmin smart...
